Margaret Skidmore

MS, LPC, NCC

Margaret is a nationally board-certified licensed professional counselor (LPC) with over three decades of experience through school and private practice counseling. She started her private practice in 2009. Margaret provides counseling in all areas and also supervises provisionally licensed professional counselors (PLPCs) for the state of Missouri. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.

For 28 years, Margaret served as a teacher and counselor at Study Alternative High School (formerly Bailey Alternative High School) within Springfield Public Schools. She provided invaluable services to families and students grappling with academic, social and emotional difficulties. Her dedication extended to facilitating various support groups, including teen parenting groups, relationship groups, substance abuse groups, and school success groups.

From 2016 to 2024, Margaret facilitated a therapy group for LGBTQ+ teens. She also brought her expertise to the Lost & Found Grief Center where she spent six years as the Group Coordinator. In this role, Margaret worked with grieving children ages 4 through 18 as well as their caregivers and siblings, helping them navigate their loss and find a path to healing and coordinating and processing group experiences with volunteers.
