Margaret is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with adolescents as well as clients of all ages, including couples and families. She also currently co-facilitates Megan's Rainbow, a free therapy group to support LGBTQ teens and works with gay, lesbian and transgender clients. She has been employed at Study Alternative High School (formerly Bailey Alternative High School) for the past 24 years, as a teacher and a counselor providing services for families and students with academic, social and emotional difficulties. Margaret also facilitated teen parenting groups, relationships groups, substance abuse groups, and school success groups.
As the Group Coordinator for six years at Lost & Found, a non-profit organization that provides support groups for families dealing with the death of a loved one, Margaret worked with grieving children 4 through 18, parents, and volunteers.
I believe in a confidential, non-judgmental, relationship-centered counseling environment where individuals and families can openly and safely discuss their thoughts and feelings. Each client is treated with respect and supported to gain greater self-understanding and self-awareness. The client is at the center of therapy and determines the direction of therapy. As the counselor, I present different perspectives and ideas and help the client identify and develop their own ways to resolve blocks to personal growth and to improve communication and the relationships in their lives. For grieving clients in particular, I provide a safe place to honestly deal with the myriad of emotions and experiences that are part of the healing process.
Individual, Family, Couples Counseling:

If regular fees present a financial hardship, I will work with families on a sliding scale.
If insurance covers mental health counseling, payment is accepted at the time of service, and the client is responsible for submitting a receipt to the insurance company for reimbursement.
